However, I think most women overdo HIIT training and most HIIT/group fitness classes are taught by trainers who don’t understand our aging bodies and who don’t monitor your form and make sure you are doing the exercises right.

3:50 Cardio versus weight training for fat loss – Which is better for fat loss especially if you have limited time? The answer is that neither is more important. Instead you should focus on calories. Cardio of course will help you lose weight but you could create a calorie deficit alone through diet and the most important thing if you want to lose weight is creating a calorie deficit. If you aren’t monitoring your calories you probably won’t lose weight. We also talk about Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis.

If you are trying to change the shape of your body and work on things like strength and posture, weight training should be your focus.

7:07 Can you overdo cardio? – Yes, you can definitely overdo cardio. When it comes to fat loss, you’ll get the best results with a gentle approach. You should use cardio strategically. Start with the smallest amount possible. If you are too aggressive with cardio and your diet, your body will fight back.
